Understand What the Athlete Can Reproduce, Not Just What They Can Peak.

Evans Velo Zone® teaches coaches how to interpret repeated performance, re-expression, and changing output so training decisions are based on what the athlete can actually sustain.

  • Identify meaningful performance changes across repeated efforts
  • Distinguish peak output from repeatable, usable performance
  • Turn diagnostic patterns into clearer programming decisions

The EVZ Platform Certification teaches the diagnostic methodology behind Evans Velo Zone®, including repeated-performance analysis, retention, re-expression, transfer, and structured decision-making across changing demands.

From Diagnostic to Decision

Then — What was meaningfully established?
Now — What is the athlete demonstrating today?
Next — What deserves attention next?

EVZ connects historical benchmarks, current performance evidence, development phase, and performance state to a clearer next-step coaching decision.

The result is not just a score, but a traceable decision based on historical context, current evidence, and the athlete’s next developmental priority.

Four Developmental Questions

EVZ organizes performance development around four questions that define what the athlete is currently being asked to retain, transfer, re-attain, or express.

Retention: Can the athlete preserve established performance?

Evaluate whether previously developed capacity remains available across repeated exposure and changing demand.

Transfer: Can that capacity carry into a different demand?

Determine whether developed performance re-expresses when the task, load, movement, or context changes.

Re-attainment: Can previously demonstrated performance be restored?

Identify whether the athlete can recover and re-establish output after decline, disruption, fatigue, or a period away from peak expression.

Output: Can the athlete express performance at the required level?

Evaluate whether the athlete can produce the level of performance currently demanded by the training or competitive objective.

The EVZ Platform connects these questions to diagnostic evidence, performance state, and the next programming decision.

Velocity, force, power, jump, sprint, and other performance data can all tell you what happened. EVZ provides a structured framework for interpreting how that performance changes across repeated exposures, and what that means for the next training decision. The phase may change. The decision framework stays consistent.

How EVZ Evaluates Repeated Performance

Wave 1 → Reset → Wave 2

Wave 1 establishes the initial performance response. The Reset creates separation between exposures.

Wave 2 evaluates what the athlete can retain, recover, and re-express when challenged again.

When Wave Integrity passes, EVZ compares the exposures and converts the pattern into diagnostic evidence for the next training decision.
